Dr. Yan has been working on wheat science throughout his academic career including his studies for B.Sc. (1984, the thesis on wheat floral development), for M.S. (1984-1987, the thesis on wheat root quality), and for Ph.D (1999, the thesis on wheat waxy genes), his teaching and research experience in wheat applied physiology (1987-1996, Yangzhou University), and his postdoctoral and project scientist experience in cloning vernalization genes in wheat (1999-2006, University of California, Davis).
