PaSS Student is Featured as DASNR International Student of the Week

This week’s international student of the week is Yuriko Mori. She is a third year student in Plant and Soil Sciences. She was born in Fuji, Japan. Yuriko speaks Japanese and English. Yuriko is a member of ECO-OSU, a student organization devoted to increase awareness in environmental issues. Currently Yuriko is in Oregon as an exchange student. She will come back to OSU in fall 2008 to complete her degree.

Oklahoma No-Till conference a Huge Success!

Over 275 folks came, registered and picked up a conference packet on Monday and Tuesday of this week in Oklahoma City. Farmers turned out and were willing to put registration money on the line in order to learn more about how to best save money, time and resources by switching to No-till.

They heard from University and Extension folks from not just Oklahoma but other states as well- but they also heard from farmers who have taken the plunge into no-till and were willing to share their life experiences as they converted to the practice. more...

The Blessings of Good News- Even When You Are in China!

We actually heard it first from Dr. Jim Trapp of Oklahoma State University as we were traveling to the Great Wall on Tuesday morning Chinese time- the word that Gary Sherrer was gotten a medical report that is nothing short of fabulous- Gary has been battling cancer for several months now and has just heard from the Doctor that the mass they have been working on is gone- he will be taking a couple of additional treatments as insurance- but the report cheered our spirits over here in Asia. more...

Dr. Chad Godsey received funding for his Southern Regional Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) On-Farm Research Grant Proposal entitled “Increasing the Sustainability of Oklahoma Cropping Systems Using Cover Crops.”

Statewide no-till meeting is a huge success

The first statewide no-till meeting in Oklahoma was a huge success. Over 200 very interested producers attended the two-day conference in Oklahoma City Feb. 11 and 12.

The conference was designed to bring a wide range of information to producers who are new to no-till farming. The Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service, Natural Resource Conservation Service, Southern Plains Agricultural Resources Coalition, Great Plains Resource Conservation and Development, Oklahoma Conservation Commission and High Plains Journal sponsored the conference. more...
