Plant and Soil Sciences 2017 Outstanding PhD. Student Sulochana Dhital

Sulochana Dhital completed her MS degree in May, 2013, and her PhD in December 2016. Both graduate degrees were in Soil Fertility at Oklahoma State University under the guidance of Dr. Bill Raun. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science in Nepal. Her MS work at OSU focused on foliar applied Nitrogen and Sulfur for improved yield and grain protein in winter wheat. Dr. Dhital has published two senior authored peer reviewed articles and is a co-author on four additional papers published in refereed journals. Recently she completed a comprehensive review showing how fertilizer N rates for optimal yield change dramatically from one season to the next, and location to location. Knowledge generated from this research is valuable because N application rates are often not adjusted as a function of temporal variability. Her paper was recently published in Agronomy Journal, and where it very quickly rose to the #1 spot for papers being downloaded. Dr. Dhital is the very first OSU graduate student to receive this kind of recognition in the journal.
