Present Mission and Duties

Generate and deliver research-based information to Oklahoma’s cotton producers and related industry through the supervision of field operations of the State Extension Cotton Research and Demonstration Program and to provide technical assistance to producers dealing with cotton production and management decisions. Primary responsibilities include:

• Implementation of private and academic research and demonstration projects.
• Data collection and analysis.
• Organization and distribution of project results to Oklahoma cotton industry.
• Presentation of project results at local, regional and national conferences.
• Provide technical assistance to producers on cotton production and management.

Current Areas of Work

• Development of morningglory control programs in cotton.
• Demonstration and recommendations for effective cotton defoliation programs.
• Utilizing plant mapping data as a decision aid in cotton production
• Promotion of limited tillage cotton production systems.
• Effective sprayer calibration and spray drift management.
• Supplemental fertility programs in cotton.
• Use of plant growth regulators in cotton.
• Implementation of county cotton variety trials.
• The utilization of “Greenseeker” and “Variable Rate Application” technologies in cotton.
