STUDENT POSTER COMPETITION GUIDELINES

The purpose of the poster competition is to create awareness of the diverse soil biology research projects in progress in our OSU scientific community. The poster competition is open to graduate and undergraduate students and will take place on Friday, April 28, from 3:40 PM to 4:40 PM, Entomology and Plant Pathology atrium, 3rd floor, NRC . Poster set up starts at 8:15 AM. The competition winners will be announced at 4:50 PM.

First, Second, and Third place competition winners will receive travel awards of $500, $300, and $200, respectively.

Students who plan to participate in the poster competition must register by Friday, April 7th by e-mailing Dr. Adam Cobb (abcobb@okstate.edu) the following:

Abstract (max. 3,000 characters) may include one picture and/or one table.

Posters should be prepared for a broad audience. Poster dimensions should be no more than 36 x 48 inches. Poster presentations will be well rehearsed, 2-3 minutes long followed by 1-2 minutes of answering questions.

Judging Criteria:

Abstract

· Originality/Merit - 10 points

· Quality of writing - 10 points

 

Poster and presentation (points awarded during judging at the conference)

· Appearance - 20 points

· Organization - 20 points

· Presentation/Knowledge - 40 points
